Under Eye Problems: Naturally Resolve Dark Skin, Puffiness and/or Hollows

If there is discoloration, puffiness or hollows under your eyes, this gives you important information, as it signals an inner imbalance. Should you see any of these indicators, the following sketch and 7 photos will enable you to identify the root cause of your concern. And knowing what underlies the problem is a first step in regaining your desired complexion.

When we’re at our best, our faces beam out our vitality and core essence. Then our natural beauty shines through unhindered. But if our diet or lifestyle is off-kilter, our faces reflect just that. The location of a specific facial characteristic points to a specific imbalance. Here’s a sketch of three under eye zones and their corresponding inner organ systems according to Chinese Face Reading and the Five Elements.

Three Under Eye Zones
Three Under Eye Zones
Key
Lower eyelid—Digestive function (Earth Element)
Below eyelashes and inner eye corners—Kidney system (Water Element)
Cheekbone region—Colon (Metal Element)

Facial Clues Correlate to Specific Inner Organs

Your under eye area will not look exactly like any of the photos below. Ignore the differences. Rather, you are training your eye to detect three separate zones. This enables you to connect a facial clue with an organ system. Then make targeted shifts to regain your inner balance and appearance. In the Before and After photos, you’ll see how quickly my clients upgraded their appearance and health.

So that you might more easily identify subtle facial indicators, the photos below are enlarged.

Under eye discoloration and hollows

1. Twin infants with discoloration and hollows on cheekbones (colon zone). It’s normal for an infant’s chubby cheeks to cause creases or hollows on the cheekbones. However, their discoloration suggests undue internal stress. Perhaps they had colic? This was a stock photo, so we can only surmise.

2. Since exposure to mold in infancy, this 11-year-old child had a long history of compromised immunity and antibiotic use. Below his eyelashes (kidney zone), it is puffy and dark pink, especially on the right. His cheekbones (colon zone) are discolored and with hollows.

3. This 39-year-old woman suffered from fatigue and gastrointestinal issues. She is puffy below the eyelashes and blue near the inner eye corners (kidney zone). Note the discoloration, bumps and puffiness on her cheekbones, which suggest a colon issue.

4. Suffering from chronic fatigue and debilitating irritable bowel syndrome, this 65-year-old man reached out to me for help. Note the blue-black crescents at his inner eye corners that extend to his cheekbones (kidney and colon zones respectively).

Here’s this gentleman again, but not enlarged to best see his incisive gaze. While he is the most senior of these examples, his eyes reveal an astute mind. As we age, it need not all be downhill.

5. It’s easy to appreciate the light beaming from this 55-year-old woman’s face which reflects her excellent self-care history. Nevertheless health issues occur and her primary concern is the autoimmune disease Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. As the gut is always implicated in autoimmune disease, this helps explain her under eye bags, hollows and discoloration (colon). You’ll also see slight discoloration below her eyelashes, primarily below the outer portion of the eye (kidney zone).

Irregularities in all 3 zones

6. Overweight, fatigue and depression are this 59-year-old’s chief concerns. Pink eyelids (digestion zone) suggest an inflammatory diet. This woman’s kidney zone, especially on the right, is puffy and pink. Additionally, it is yellow/brown and puffy on her cheekbones (colon zone).

Bright white colon zone

7. Diverticulitis is this 62-year-old’s issue. Of her three zones, the pure white on the cheekbones extends up to nearly obscure her kidney zone indicators. White, incidentally, is the color associated with the Metal Element and the colon according to 5-Element Medicine.

What Does Your Under Eye Region Reveal?

Now it’s your turn. Take a look in the mirror. Should you happen to have a similar facial irregularity to any of those in the photos above, that doesn’t mean you have identical complaints. For example, white in the colon zone (photo #8) doesn’t mean that you have diverticulitis. No single facial indicator clinches a diagnosis. The location of a facial irregularity merely points to a specific organ system. And it is this information that is invaluable.

  • If you have under eye indicators, note which zone they’re in.
  • Facial features and indicators are not symmetrical; they typically vary from one side of the face to the other.
  • A facial indicator may appear in just a portion of a given zone.

Roll Up Your Sleeves

How will you implement this exciting and practical information? Let’s assume that of the three under eye areas, your stomach zone indicator is the most dramatic and so therefore first invites support. Relying on your common sense, make a list of all the ways that you are not careful of your digestion. Now make a list of the good practices you’ll swap out for those bad habits and delight as your discoloration and/or puffiness recedes. It is that simple.

To expedite your healing, see my blogs or request a Face Reading Report via email. You’ll send your intake information and photos and within the week, I’ll provide you with support to address your individual concerns. With a lifetime of experience in assessing people’s faces and health concerns, and then coaching them accordingly, it will be my pleasure to help you expedite your healing.

  1. I have extreme puffiness under my left eye that goes down the the top of my cheek. I wake up with this and it doesn’t go away. Any suggestions on what could be causing this ?

    • How disconcerting. With only this information, I can only guess. To provided you with a relevant answer I’d need to see your photo and have your intake information. It could be allergy related and it sound like its in the colon zone. Pay attention to what makes it better or worse. If you wish a Face Reading, then I can provide a detailed report. Good luck!

  2. Hi Rebecca I have a lot of problems right now with my kidneys liver and digestion. Right now my face is bloated and I have raccoon eyes and the crease between my cheek bone that is considered for colon problems the puffiness area under my eye which is considered for digestion and the darkness which is considered for kidneys and I’m really upset and said and I just need help and once I get $100 I would love to contact you so you can help me regain my health and lifestyle again. I also have the white showing below my Iris and all this actually just happened all of a sudden it’s been almost 3 months and nothing has changed and I tried to have a balanced diet but I think there’s more something more internal going on I just need help on what’s the best way to portion I’m always in bloated and my stomach is always hurting. You matter what I eat it gets me bloated. I was curious do you think that my face is bloated and why I have the crease which is called feasting and maybe was my face goes away the bloating goes away would regain it again is it possible or is it just because it is genetic cuz my mom has has the same features but she’s 25 years older than me. So I’m starting to feel like I I am aging rapidly at only being 37.

    • Salina, I’m so sorry for all of your suffering. May you quickly find resolution. It seems apparent that there’s something in your diet and/or environment that is triggering your reactions. May you quickly discern the triggers and remove them. For people with complicated issues like yours, often an autoimmune protocol works and or give the 14Four program a try. Good luck.

  3. Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for this information! I can see that, unfortunately, my eyes have a lot of the same characteristics as Trent’s. I recall reading your blog entry on sanpaku eyes a while back and realized my eyes are very sanpaku at bottom, and even borderline at top. I know this is most likely due to not getting enough sleep at night, for as far back as I can recall. I’ve been progressing in a healthier lifestyle all across the board over the last few years, but sleep is definitely the area I’ve most struggled in disciplining myself.

Just wondering, what could one expect to happen down the road to the kidneys if they continued to be compromised? In other words, if I keep running on an average of 6.5 hours of sleep each night, what kind of damage am I doing to them? Also… probably a weird question, but I’m curious ~ how exactly do the eyes get un-sanpaku’d? 🙂 Do the irises get bigger, do the lower eyelids lift, or…?

Thank you so much for your time and phenomenal work. I truly appreciate everything I’ve learned from your blog and books! Blessings ~

    • You’ve asked a good question: how will your eyes shift back to normal (after being sanpaku)? I’m not sure, but here’s what I observe: facial features normalize as we regain our balance just as digestion returns to normal after a tummy upset. As you support your kidneys and regain your vital chi then the white sclera showing under your eyes recedes. You’ll also feel more settled in your body and regain some of the positive characteristics of strong kidneys such as courage and perseverance.

Now it’s my turn. What shifts might you make to support getting more sleep? Perhaps less Face Book time? Or…… ? It’s great that you continue to progress to a healthier lifestyle, and perhaps you’ll want to amp that up. Good luck. It’s doable. And my hunch is that a Face Reading would support you accordingly.

      • Thanks for your reply, Rebecca! The human body is just endlessly fascinating, the more I learn. The illustration of digestion coming back into balance makes a lot of sense. Interesting when I think about it, I can see that my eyes really have changed in appearance since I was young, when the iris-to-white ratio was more balanced and, I now realize, healthy.

I’m not a Facebook user, but the internet in general is a big distraction, yes! I’ve had a Face Reading on my wishlist for a long time, and do hope I can do that at some point. I know it would be tremendously valuable.

Many thanks again; I truly respect and appreciate your feedback!
