Face Reading: Resolve Aches and Pains

Aching joints plague Corinne, a 17-year-old Californian. In this mini Face Reading, we’ll sleuth some solutions for her pain by examining three facial features. How can Face Reading help resolve pain in the shoulders and toes? As we’ll see, facial clues point to underlying imbalances in the inner organ systems. To lose those aches, we’ll couple her clues with the timeless Chinese healing paradigm the Five Elements.

Corinne has several facial indicators that may underlie her inflammatory condition.

Our first step is to appreciate one’s innate beauty. It’s easy to delight in Corinne’s symmetrical features and how her upturned mouth corners form a natural smile. Let’s trust that she, also, values her core essence and appreciates that the facial indicators identified below are simply a gauge, and they are reversible.

Look close under Corinne’s eyes for color and/or tone variables. The puffy area relates to the Water Element. The red discoloration that extends to both cheekbones points to the Metal Element.

Note color and tone irregularities

The top lip is associated with the digestive organs, and Corrine’s seems to be divided into two color zones: pink along the top with a pale, almost blue hue below. The blog, Pale Lips—Cold Fingers has additional information on the significance of lip color variation and how to regain uniformly colored lips.

How Color and Tone Relate to Aches

Generally speaking, joint pain results from injury to or inflammation of a joint’s surrounding tissues. As Corinne has suffered from pain in multiple joints since childhood, we can rule out injury. Thus chronic tissue inflammation appears to be a significant, if not primary, cause of her pain. And diet is a principle culprit in inflammation.

Correlating aches with diet is certainly not new news. Corinne herself notes that too much sugar or unhealthy foods make the pain worse. But here she is, aching and—according to her diet log—eating donuts and drinking Pepsi. There appears to be a disconnect.

Who Eats Donuts?

Before we too quickly judge Corinne’s donut, can anyone relate?  How recently did you eat something “off” of your diet? When your intended diet doesn’t always match what’s on your plate, then Face Reading and the Five Elements offers brilliant support.

By familiarizing herself with this paradigm, Corinne has much more than just a list of foods she shouldn’t be eating to resolve her aches and pains. There are targeted dietary and lifestyle guidelines for each of the Elements. For example, nurturing activities strengthen the Earth Element. So to support her self-care momentum, she might extend to another, be it a pet, a child, or a pot of geraniums. The color yellow also shores up this Element, as does singing and dancing. So in Corinne’s case her Rx might be to play with the neighbor’s children, buy a yellow sweater and then head for the dance club (and order a Perrier).

Corrine, may you be pain free. Good luck, and let us know how you do.
